We are very excited to start harvest so early in the season this year. On Sunday 14th September we started harvesting our Ortega variety and were blessed with a very large quantity of clean and ripe fruit, with a potential alcohol of 10.2%. A week later on the 21st September we harvested our Bacchus where we achieved over 4kg per vine of quality fruit. We suspect the yield on the Dornfelder will be even higher when we start harvest within the next 10 days or so. The Ortega fermentation is underway and we are aiming for a nice long cool fermentation to ensure we capture the fruity aromas. I have to say the winery smells amazing at present. Over the next day or two the Bacchus will also start it’s ferment.
