Despite a week of cooler temperatures and some welcome rain the vines are growing very well this summer. We seem to be 3-4 weeks ahead of the 2013 season, which was somewhat delayed by the cold spring last year. Fruit set looks good so hoping for a plentiful harvest. Summer in the vineyard consists of spraying fungicide, mowing the grass in the rows, rubbing off the shoots that grow on the trunks, lifting the foilage wires, tucking in and trimming. Simples….
